Tales from a small(er) island

Name:
Location: Offshore, United Kingdom

I'm an indecisive, stubborn, fiercely independent person who is saving up to be eccentric. In the meantime, I can variously be found living in scattered locations, taking up hare-brained schemes, and plotting an escape from reality. This must be the furthest I've got so far.

"It's good to talk"

For anyone who didn't know, (and I can't believe you would have missed me whinging)
I am not a fan of British Telecom. Which is why it's taken me so long to get this thing going. It took a month to get the phone working, and then another 3 weeks to get the broadband. Which is outrageous service. I must say though, the last lady from BT I spoke to sounded genuinely horrified that I had no working phone in my house, no mobile signal, and had to go outside to use a phone box. Talk about living in the dark ages!!

Anyhow, this is Bowmore in the evening, so at least I have a view when I am down at the harbour wall on the phone.

Unless the view is spoiled by skinnydipping Norweigians

(not photographed)

(NOT a pretty sight)

Disgusted of Bowmore. xxx

Island life

Welcome to the wonderful isle of Islay, the place that has been home to me for 6 weeks now.

For those of you far away, I thought I'd start this blog to:
  • Let you know how great it is here, so you'll all want to come and visit me. (NB must sort out a backhander from the tourist information board)
  • Dispel any myths about what it is like to live on an island
  • Let you in on the hilarious escapades and things that only happen in a place like this
  • Occasionaly have a rant about how hard it is living on an island (just wait 'til winter comes)

Hopefully there will be not too much ranting, and more of the pretty sunsets!
